  18. This application provides interactive help when
  19. the !Help application is active.

  22. What this software does
  23.  
  24. It allows the production of a range of charts from
  25. data that can be entered and edited. The program
  26. plots line graphs, stacked and grouped barcharts
  27. and piegraphs. The current implementation provides
  28. 2D display of the charts.
  29.  
  30.  A number of options for obtaining various forms
  31. of hard copy exist (saving as a !Draw file, or
  32. printing via any standard RISC-OS printer driver).

  35. Running the application
  36.  
  37.  This software is fully RISC-OS compatible, and is
  38. multi-tasking. It can be run from the desktop in
  39. all the standard ways.

  41.  Double clicking on the !ChartDraw icon in a
  42. directory viewer will install its icon on the icon
  43. bar.
  44.  
  45.  The application can also be started by double
  46. clicking on a ChartDraw file. In this case,
  47. besides the icon appearing on the icon bar, the
  48. edit window will be opened with the contents of
  49. the data file displayed, for further editing if
  50. necessary. A data file may also be dragged, either
  51. into the edit window, or to the iconbar icon. The
  52. data will be loaded, overwriting any data that had
  53. previously been entered.

  56. The Iconbar Menu

  58.  Clicking with MENU on the icon offers the
  59. following options:
  60.  
  61. Info
  62.  The standard information box, with version
  63. number. This is the number that should be quoted
  64. in any communication regarding the application.

  66. Help
  67.  Opens this help window
  68.  
  69. Choices...
  70.  Selecting this brings up a dialogue box that
  71. allows a range of options to be changed, and these
  72. changes may be made permanent so that they become
  73. the new defaults when the application is
  74. subsequently started. The options affect the way
  75. the charts are displayed and printed.
  76.  
  77.  The choices should be self explanatory. The font
  78. names and sizes can be changed. To change the
  79. font, simply click on the menu button to the right
  80. of the font name field, when a menu will open with
  81. all the installed fonts shown, from which a choice
  82. can be made. Clicking on the menu button to the
  83. right of the font size field will raise a menu to
  84. choose the new size.

  86.  The type of line (dashed or continuous) used for
  87. producing a graph grid for the graph may be
  88. chosen.

  90.  You may also choose whether to use colour when
  91. plotting, and how long labels are displayed.

  93.  The changes will not come into operation until
  94. the Set button is pressed. If the cancel button
  95. is pressed, the dialogue box is removed from the 
  96. screen, and the original defaults remain in
  97. effect. The selection can be made the new default
  98. by clicking on the save icon. When saving
  99. defaults, the settings will be made for the
  100. current session. Note that the default file is
  101. saved within the !ChartDraw application,
  102. therefore, if the application is being run from a
  103. floppy disc, the filer may request the disc
  104. containing the !ChartDraw application to be
  105. inserted in the disc drive.

  107.  Quit
  108.  Terminates the ChartDraw application. ChartDraw
  109. offers the chance to save any modified data before
  110. quitting.

  113. Entering Data

  115.  Clicking SELECT on the ChartDraw iconbar icon
  116. will open an empty edit window, in which you may
  117. enter and edit the data for display.
